Biography
I am Professor Dr. Farzana Islam Rume, currently serving in the Department of Microbiology and Public Health. I completed my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Chittagong Government Veterinary College (now Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University), affiliated with the University of Chittagong, in 2005. Later, I obtained my Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Dhaka. I began my teaching career as a Lecturer at Barishal Government Veterinary College in 2005 and subsequently joined Patuakhali in 2008. Over the years, I have been engaged in teaching, research, and academic development, and I now serve as a Professor.
My major research interests include infectious and zoonotic diseases, food microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, microbial genetics, and immunoproteomics. I have led multiple national and institutional research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, BARC, and PSTU, and have published extensively in high-impact international journals. My goal is to advance “One Health” approaches through interdisciplinary microbiological research.
Research Interest
My research interests include infectious and zoonotic diseases, food microbiology, microbial genetics, immunoproteomics, and antimicrobial resistance. I am passionate about advancing knowledge in microbiology and public health and contributing to the prevention and control of infectious diseases.Qualifications
