Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Mamun Hossain is a grade-2 professor in the Department of Agricultural engineering at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Bangladesh. He has a strong and well-rounded academic background including a short-term postdoctoral fellowship in Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) from Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Netherlands, a Ph.D. in Agricultural Water and Soil Engineering from Shenyang Agricultural University, China, and both an MS in irrigation & water management (IWM) and B.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. His research interests focus on Agricultural Engineering/Agricultural water and soil management technique, Water conservation/Water resources engineering and management, Climate change impact on agriculture and environment for sustainability, River bank erosion restrain and management for agricultural sustainability and Synthesis of bio-char application and environmental protection.
Dr. Mamun Hossain has been serving as the Chairman in the Department of Agricultural Engineering since November 2018. He also served twice previously as the Chairman of the same Department. Currently, he is a member of academic council and Provost M. Keramot Ali Hall of Patuakhali Science and Technology University. Over the years, Dr. Mamun Hossain has gained extensive academic and professional experience, advancing from lecturer to professor at PSTU. His research contributions are more than 28 journal articles including conference papers, addressing vital issues in Agricultural Engineering and Water related field. His works, funded by various international bodies including MEXT, Japan, Chinese govt. Scholarship, RECSA, Nuffic OKP, Netherlands for higher education and national bodies for research including Ministry of education, RTC, PSTU etc. He is member of Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB). He is experienced enough on academic, research and administrative in different stage in his journey. He has made significant contributions to improving agricultural water conservation and river bank protection in climate-vulnerable coastal regions.
